How to change the resolution on my computer screen?

at the moment,it too bright, and i any pictures that appear on it are soo bright and sort of burnt out. helpHow to change the resolution on my computer screen?
There should be a button or adjustment wheel near the bottom of the monitor that increases and decreases the brightness.

I'm not sure what you have, but I have Vista. So these are Vista instructions.

Click the little start button in the lower left corner. Go to Control Panel. Go to Appearance And Personalization. Under personalization it says Adjust Screen Resolution. Have fun!How to change the resolution on my computer screen?
