I need help connecting my laptop to my tv! Please help me!?

HI Everyone. I need help on knowing how to connect my lap top to my tv. I bought the 7 pin svideo to RCA cable I connected it to my tv and it worked except for one problem I get a black%26amp;white picture. I've tried changing the settings on my tv and I've changed the resolution on my laptop but nothing works. Does any one know what else I can do? At this point I'm not sure if maybe I got a faulty cable. If any one has other suggestions please let me know.

Thank you!!!!I need help connecting my laptop to my tv! Please help me!?
Refer to your TV sets user manuel it should show what and how to connect the two properly as well as correct cables to use. You can also find the info on the website for your make and model of lap top in the help and support section/user manual.I need help connecting my laptop to my tv! Please help me!?
Happened to mine also.

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities, we recommend you follow each of the below steps to resolve this issue.

1. Driver issue - This issue can be caused by a driver related issue; verify your laptop has the latest drivers from your computer manufacturer. Note: if you are using a laptop computer we recommend you get the latest drivers from your computer manufacturer and not the video card manufacturer unless directed otherwise.

2. Connector issues - If you are using an adapter such as a SCART to connect your computer to the TV, make sure it is capable of supporting your video mode. SCART connectors only supports composite video and therefore if you are using S-Video you will only be able to receive a black and white picture. If you are using S-Video connector you may wish to use the S-Video to SCART pro (pro-SCART-6) found here.

3. TV modes - Verify your laptop is using the same TV mode as your TV (e.g. PAL or NTSC).

4. Hardware - Insure you are connecting the laptop directly to the TV and not through any other devices.

5. Other - If the above issues do not relate to your situation and you are still receiving a black and white picture, it is recommended you contact your laptop computer manufacturer or video card manufacturer for additional recommendations and/or repair.

I have a digital picture I desperately want enlarged but I don't know how to tell if I can.?

I have a picture that was taken on a digital camera that I desperately want enlarged to 24x30 but I don't think the resolution is clear enough for me to do this. Is there any way of changing the photo or will it just simply not be possible to enlarge. I've tried getting this info on all of the camera websites but I am really confused. Can somebody please please help me?I have a digital picture I desperately want enlarged but I don%26039;t know how to tell if I can.?
probably when you enlarge the photo it doesn't conserve the proportions or get blurred but if you have photoshop you can change the size and also you can control the resolution or the number of pixels, try to do it in Photoshop is very easy, you can import or open your photo, then click on selection tool, and choose the zone that you need to enlarge then you save it and when you save you indicate the new values, for example if you want a medium, or the best quality, and this gonna be applied in your new pic.

best wishes.I have a digital picture I desperately want enlarged but I don%26039;t know how to tell if I can.?
You may want to re-shoot the picture. The only way you can enlarge images to that size is to shoot them at the highest resolution on your camera.

If you are using a DSLR that has at least 10 megapixels and shoot in RAW, you may be successful making a 24x30 print.

One key to ensuring you get the most %26quot;printable%26quot; information on a file is to convert your RAW images to TIFF and then have the lab print from that file. A TIFF file can be larger than 30MB.I have a digital picture I desperately want enlarged but I don%26039;t know how to tell if I can.?
The first poster is correct. Unless you used the largest file size on your camera (assuming your camera has 10+ mega pixels) you are going to have a hard time getting the image that large and keep it crisp. But you might try playing around with some photoshop filters if you are not needing it to be too sharp. When you try to go too large you either get blur or jagged edges. One possible solution is to intentionally blur the image. It means the detail will be gone but you will have a large image. If done with an artistic flare it might work for what you want unless you really want sharp.

How should I resize my image to to get a maximum file size of 1 megabyte?

I need to resize a picture to 1 megabyte. However, the software only shows changes to width, length, and resolution. What combination of these three will most likely get me a 1 mb photo? Thanks!!How should I resize my image to to get a maximum file size of 1 megabyte?
An image file size is proportional to the AREA of your picture. So, look at the present file size in Mb. Take the square root of that number, then divide it INTO either the length or width of the present picture. That should be your NEW width or Height. Then take whatever graphics program you are using and in the resize function, enter the new width or height. Make sure you have the box on that page marked %26quot;Keep same aspect ratio%26quot; ticked.

Even the simplest calculator has a square root function. If not use Excel. Assume the file size is 2.56 Mb, then square root formulas would be

=2.56^0.5 and hit enter where the ^ is above the number 6 key (It's called a caret)

This will not get you Exactly 1,0 Mb, but very close.How should I resize my image to to get a maximum file size of 1 megabyte?
It seems that you have never attended a class in photography, nor do you understand the concept of image resolution and what happens when you make adjustments of the files

A 1 mb file is really a tiny file in todays world of digital photography. The typical file size from cameras today are between 6 and 7 mb.

When resizing images, the image ratio constraints must be maintained. Telling the photo program what you are doing, it will automatically keep the image ratios perfect.

You did not tell us why a 1 mb file size is important to you at this time.

    All the pictures on my computer are stretched, why?

    In the last couple of days I have noticed that all my pictures are stretched horizontally %26lt;----%26gt;. I have noticed this using Adobe Photoshop, when I just open them with the Windows Picture Viewer in the My Pictures folder, as well as any other picture program I choose to use. I am wondering why this is and how to fix it.

    If it's important, I changed my screen resolution and then changed it back, but I don't think this would have anything to do with the problem. I need this fixed as I do a lot of photographic work, and nothing is coming out right. I use XP Home Ed. and have not had a problem up until now, and have had this computer for about a year.All the pictures on my computer are stretched, why?
    most likely your screen size is incorrect check the various shapes/sizes in display/properties/settings for the correct shape for your screen

    if thats ok then adjust you monitors horizontal/vertical size so that they are equal and all should square up.

    i use photoshop to create a square blank image to check

    say 400 x 400p if it looks wrong your monitor is probably to blame

    How can I change Dish settings for just my TV and not the whole reciever?

    So, my Dish reciever is connected to two TVs - one HDTV upstairs and one SDTV downstairs. To change the Dish's display resolution to HD on my TV I went into the settings and set it as 1080i. Since both the HD and SD TVs are on the same reciever, the SDTV was also set as 1080i, which doesn't exactly work out on the TV and you get some cut off picture. So, is there some way to just change the setting on your TV instead of the whole reciever?How can I change Dish settings for just my TV and not the whole reciever?
    Are you using the dual Tuner Dish network receiver? Then the 2d TV is always in SD mode.

    If you simply use a splitter, then the set-top settings apply to BOTH TVs. Simply get a second set-top box.

    Why would high resolution pictures print out pixelated?

    I joined Sams Club for their printing services because you can get large prints done in an hour for very cheap (less than $10 for prints up to 20x30, as opposed to places like Kinkos where you will pay upwards of $7 a square foot.) Sam's prints have always looked great in the past, but recently they have been coming out pixelated. Why would this be?

    I am a graphic designer and I have prepared images for print professionally for years, so I am pretty confident I am doing it correctly. The images are all 300 resolution JPGs that are the exact print size. As a test, I even printed the exact same file out at Sams and at Kinkos just to compare them and make sure that it wasn't something wrong with my files. It didn't seem to be, as the Sams version was pixelated, and the Kinkos version was perfect.

    I haven't changed anything about my computer, software setup, or the way I make files between the time the prints looked great and when they started looking like crap. I have even tried several different Sams Club stores. Sometimes the prints will come out better at a different store, sometimes not. I have also tried talking to the Sams staff and there has never been a group of people more inept at handling digital photos; I'm not sure how they even got the job. It's very frustrating trying to explain to them that it is my job to know how to prepare these files correctly, when they just keep telling me that I should drive all the way back home, change something on my end, wait an hour, then come back to the same crappy result (which I have done several times.)

    Why would this be happening? I use Photoshop CS3 to make my files, is there a way in the JPG format options to fool-proof the files for these people? Any other file format makes the file size too large for them to use. I would love to keep using Sams so that I don't have spend a small fortune every time I have an art show.Why would high resolution pictures print out pixelated?
    hey i try not to use jpegs while they are good on screen they sometimes carry problems at the printers.. I use tiffs... they are a lossy-less format... maybe this file extension change will help out...

    so image is right print size at 300 dpi have you calibrated the scanner? just a thought... sometimes pple at my work change settings and i fly in and preprep my print stuff and find the changes have wrecked the image output...

    Also maybe printing with a pdf... they seem to resize well enough.. though text can fuzz up if your not careful...

    otherwise i'm stumped.. I will ask the printer who does our offsite work tomorrow... may have a response then..

    cheers...

    You may be preparing files at 300 dpi, but they may not be printing it at 300 dpi. That being said, have they changed printing equipment at Sam's?

    I took a picture with my digital camera......?

    I submited it to a publisher. he said the resolution is 72dpi.

    the requirerments are 200-300dpi. How do I correct it.

    It was taken by my digital camera and its on file on my pc...I'm new about this and don't know how to change it to 200dpi. can it be done?I took a picture with my digital camera......?
    If you took the picture at 72dpi then if you convert it to a larger dpi it will be pixilated. Was your camera on its highest resolution setting? The more Megapixels your camera has the more dpi a picture can contain. If you need to adjust the dpi you will need to do it in a photo editing program, I suggest Photoshop. DPI stands for dots per inch. If you have a certain amount of pixels (dots) and you try to make it larger, i.e. going from 72dpi to 200dpi the program will fill in the blanks, that is why it will look so pixilated.

    Either you accidentally formed your picture to have 72dpi, you had your camera set to a low setting or your camera sucks and you need to upgrade.I took a picture with my digital camera......?

    Open the file in Photoshop and click image%26gt;image size and set the resolution to 300 dpi and click OK. This change the pic from 72 to 300 dpi. It will also make the file size much much bigger.

    IN Irfanview open the file, click image%26gt;resize/resample then enter 300 in the box next to DPI and click OK.

    If you don't have Photoshop you can download IrfanView from www.irfanview.com. It's free and quite good, but not as good as Photo filtre which you can find at www.tucows.com and numerous other sites. Photofiltre is a full featured photo editor. Resolution - PPI - DPI

    The easiest way to find out is to take a picture.

    Open the picture in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

    Click on %26quot;Image%26quot; then %26quot;Resize%26quot; then %26quot;Image Size%26quot;

    (Or use [CTRL]+[ALT]+[I] %26lt;%26lt;that's a letter %26quot;I%26quot;)

    Look at %26quot;Resolution%26quot; on the window that opens and it will show you what the resolution of the image is.

    You can not control the pixels per inch in your camera, as this is a function of the sensor. I have found the following ppi for SOME cameras by the following manufacturers. I wonder if this specification is available anywhere. I have four camera manuals in front of me and I can't find it in any of them.

    NIKON - 300 ppi

    CANON - 180 ppi

    PENTAX - 72 ppi

    We %26quot;discussed%26quot; this by way of question and answers a while back and decided that the ppi file produced by the camera really did not have any effect on the capability to produce a good print. If I take a photo with my wife's 6 MP Nikon and view the image on the screen, it will start out as 300 ppi. If it's a full frame image of 3008 pixels x 2000 pixels, the SCREEN image would be pretty big if I viewed it full sized, but it would print 10.0%26quot; x 6.6%26quot;. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, keeping it as full-frame as possible, it becomes 400 dpi.

    With my brother's 6 MP Pentax, the image is 2816 px x 2112 px, but it's at 72 ppi. If you print this without cropping, it would be 39%26quot; x 29%26quot;!!! If you crop a 5x7 out of this, though, it becomes 402 dpi resolution, which is virtually identical for the Nikon 6 MP camera.

    With my son's 6 MP Canon Powershot A620, the image is 3072 px x 2304 px, but it's at 180 ppi. If you could possibly print this without cropping, it would be 17.1%26quot; x 12.8%26quot;. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, though, it becomes 439 dpi resolution, which is a bit better than either of the other 6 MP cameras.

    In other words, regardless of the sensor's pixel-per-inch output, 6 MP cameras produced the same resolution when it came time to print comparable images. How about a camera with more pixels?

    If I take a photo with my 10 MP Nikon D200 and view the image on the screen, it will start out as 300 ppi. If it's a full frame image of 3872 pixels x 2592 pixels, the SCREEN image would be pretty big if I viewed it full sized, but it would print 12.9%26quot; x 8.6%26quot;, if I had the right paper. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, keeping it as full-frame as possible, it becomes 516 dpi, or higher resolution than the 6 MP cameras. We knew that is would work out like this, though, didn't we?

    The REAL question is, what difference does this make in the real world? If we agree that 300 dpi is an excellent resolution for prints, as long as you end up with at least 300 ppi after you are done cropping on the screen, you will get an excellent print as far as resolution goes. All four cameras exceed that amount. I usually resize %26quot;down%26quot; to 300 dpi before printing, because you can't tell the difference above that resolution anyway. Most people would be quite happy with a 200 dpi print, so go ahead and crop a bit. If you get a print resolution too much below 200 dpi, you will start to see digital artifact in the print and it will be objectionable.

    ~~~~~~~
    Now... Since your image is 72 dpi, it would probably print out at some huge size like 30%26quot; x 40%26quot;. Just open the image in Photoshop or similar program and crop the image to something like 10%26quot; x 13%26quot; and check to see what the new resolution is.
    In doing a sample image that I have, I went from about 30x40 at 72 ppi to 6x8, which gave me 352 ppi. You can then resize down to the required 300 ppi by just plugging in the numer 300 in the resolution box. Or, you could do a test crop, while maintainingthe proportions of the full image, and see what you come up with . Undo and do another test until your result falls within the 200-300 range.
    Need help changing comcast digital cable box resolution.?
    Hello everyone. I've just gotten a Vizio LCD 22%26quot; 1080p HDTV and I love it! I haven't had any issues with anything when I'm playing my Xbox 360 or using it as a laptop monitor. The only trouble I've had with it is when I'm trying to watch cable TV on it.
    I'm currently using Comcast digital cable with an Explorer 2000 box with no HD channels or DVR. The picture quality is, however, terrible. I didn't expect it to be HD, of course; but I did expect it to be at LEAST watchable. I do suspect that the resolution is to blame considering the channels are mostly, if not all, running on 480(i or p, I can't remember which...).
    The only way to do that is to up-size the images using software like Photoshop or GIMP (a free software). However, the images still may look pretty bad. I would definitely suggest finding (or creating) images that are 300ppi and the size of the intended image on the playing cards.Photo Resolution?
    I like your gift idea, but you need to find higher resolution images to start with.
    Any adjustment of the resolution of the images you have will not help. They would just be blurry or distorted. (Higher resolution means more pixels. Some software tries to create pixels, but you can't really make something (good) from nothing...)
    Most internet images are kept small with low resolution to make the web pages load faster. Sometimes they also want to prevent other people from using the images for free.
    Look for a web library of free clip art. Sometimes these have nice photos in a good size. Or look for a library of pics for sale.
    s video is not an av connection so you probably have the wrong input selected on the tv. If you have the svideo cable connected you should see it, doesn't really matter what the screen resolution is on the laptopo, you just have to set the video controls for the 2nd screen to be a format that the tv can display.
    How can I make "drop shadow" effect for a picture using css?
    I want to build an online photography portfolio and the main scenario looks like this: I want a brick wall as a background for my web page and the images on that wall, but with a drop shadow effect. When the visitor clicks a thumbnail, the photo can be seen at a higher resolution, but also with drop-shadow effect.
    Can I make this using pure CSS %26amp; XHTML? I don't want to use flash or something. I know how to do all other stuff (gallery, comments system, administration panel - i'm using php,mysql in background because I'll add pictures from time to time, it's more like a dynamic gallery with comments, etc), but I don't know how to make that effect.
    Important things:
    - it's a dynamic gallery, pictures will be changed/added/deleted in time, so a %26quot;per-photo%26quot; solution it's not what i'm seeking;
    - photos will have different resolutions (some smaller, some huge maybe), so i can't afford to do something semi-static.
    PS. I'm opened to any other kind of possible solutions except flash.How can I make %26quot;drop shadow%26quot; effect for a picture using css?
    Here is a link to a page I did that contains all of the CSS definitions on the page. It makes a picture look like an instant photo.
    I hope that this helps.How can I make %26quot;drop shadow%26quot; effect for a picture using css?
    Yea it is almost 100% possible with css.
    I hope your fluint in css.
    What you need to is this::
    %26lt;style type=%26quot;text/css%26quot;%26gt;
    largepic {
    position: absolute;
    left: 0;
    top: 0;
    filter:shadow(color=ff0000, direction=90);
    display: none;
    }
    bigimg {
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    border: none;
    }
    %26lt;/style%26gt;
    %26lt;script type=%26quot;text/javascript%26quot;%26gt;
    Popup = document.getElementById(%26quot;largepic%26quot;);
    function Show(src)
    {
    document.getElementById(%26quot;bigimg%26quot;).src = src;
    x = event.clientX + document.body.scrollLeft;
    y = event.clientY + document.body.scrollTop;
    Popup.style.display=%26quot;block%26quot;;
    Popup.style.left = x;
    Popup.style.top = y;
    }
    function Hide()
    {
    Popup.style.display=%26quot;none%26quot;;
    }
    %26lt;/script%26gt;
    %26lt;div id=%26quot;largepic%26quot;%26gt;%26lt;img id=%26quot;bigim%26quot;%26gt;%26lt;/img%26gt;%26lt;/div%26gt;
    then for the imgs that will be made bigger use:
    %26lt;img src=%26quot;imgsrc.gif%26quot; onmouseover=%26quot;show(this.src)%26quot; onmouseout=%26quot;hide()%26quot;%26gt;
    You need an image editing program.
    The very best is Adobe Photoshop CS4, but it is very expensive.
    A more sensible choice might be Photoshop Elements (current version is 8), which is Photoshop's smaller cousin - can't do all the same things, but it is much cheaper and perfectly adequate for most people.
    Another editing program you can get is the Gimp (free and legal). It isn't pretty, has a big learning curve, but is a great program. http://www.gimp.org/
    Or you can go to these free websites, but that option is nowhere near as good as having the program on your computer: http://www.picnik.com or http://www.picture2life.com/ or http://fotoflexer.com/ or http://www.sumopaint.com/ or http://aviary.com/
    The last two are your best bet for more complicated tasks.
    In YOUR case, any and all of the simplest editors will let you do what you want. Resizing is a VERY basic function and you should be able to do it in at least 100 different ways/places quite easily.
    Chances are you already have a few ways on your computer - could you ask a computer savvy friend to give you a few lessons?
    You are a beginner with computers, right?
    Resizing a picture is very easy. You can use (if you are using windows) Paint or Microsoft Office Picture Manager or any other basic image editor.
    In the picture properties you can檛 edit the image, you need an application.
    In paint, open the image (to do that you can right-click the image file and click EDIT). In the menu IMAGE, click Stretch and skew.
    Example: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lord-o or http://www.engin.umich.edu/web/cms/image
    Write something like 30% in vertical and horizontal and see if that enough to be smaller, close to 640x480.
    With Microsoft Office Picture Manager is even easier.
  • Frequency out of range, error message for windows 7...?
    I have a 2009, gateway computer with windows 7...
    While working with some programs the computer automatically changed resolution to the lowest setting... I tried setting it back to what it was before, but the the desktop screen came out with its picture larger than the monitor. So I thought maybe if I restarted the computer it would show up right... but once I did it came to where it says Starting Windows, then the message ( frequency out of range ) now I can't get the computer to start up... that message just comes up every time and stay on.... Please tell me how I can change the resolution or just get the computer working how it was... ThanksFrequency out of range, error message for windows 7...?
    Sounds like you have either a monitor or graphics card error. Boot into safe mode and see if your pc boots up or not.
    If not try another monitor or graphic card.
    How to set picture size on Nikon D 60?
    I'm talking about SPECIFIC SIZE. I need 1024X768.
    Even if I go and change the size in photoshop I still cannot get the exact size without disturbing picture. It seems to be a resolution problem.
    Anyone?
    thanksHow to set picture size on Nikon D 60?
    these are the resolutions for the d60
    Max resolution 3872 x 2592
    Low resolution 2896 x 1944, 1936 x 1296
    You can't put specific sizes in the camera (as far as I am aware), you have to change it in post processing.
    PLEASE tell my mother that when you change the battery in your phone, it doesn't affect the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!
    She won't listen to me! She changed the battery in her cell phone (from one extended battery to another). The cell phone is about 1 month old, and the battery was just not working well, so we switched it with a new one tonight.
    She is now CONVINCED that the display on her phone comes in fuzzy with a poorer pixel quality. I explained to her that it was impossible for a few reasons:
    1) Batteries have nothing to do with the screen.
    2) Screen resolution cannot %26quot;change%26quot; into a poorer quality -- the pixel display of a phone is part of the structure of the phone.... not like a little computer malfunction: it is actually built in, like an antenna or a flip phone feature.
    3) Her background on the phone is a PICTURE taken by the phone of a TV show, so of course it is going to be more fuzzy than a classic wallpaper. I told her that she is just now looking more closely at the phone because she is trying to find something wrong with the new battery.
    Please explain how it simply cannotPLEASE tell my mother that when you change the battery in your phone, it doesn%26039;t affect the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!
    YOUR RIGHT!!!
    The battery will not affect the screen. however, In theory it is possible for a source of electricity to cause interferance, but not from a cell phone battery. they run around 3.7 volts usually. If you held your phone near a high voltage line, the magnetic flux could cuase interferance. DONT TRY IT THOUGH. YOULL PROBABLY DIE IF YOU DO. be nice when you show her this though.PLEASE tell my mother that when you change the battery in your phone, it doesn%26039;t affect the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I suggest you take it to a electronics place,
    especially the one where you bought the
    cell phone.
    Or one that can service your make model,
    cell phone provider.
    Have them look at it. If they find nothing
    wrong with it, then there is nothing wrong
    with it.
    That should convince your mother.
    Why is the picture choppy on my LG LCD 42" 1080p when playing Xbox 360?
    Change your Video output to 720P, all games are 720P and you're upscaling way too much for a good picture...
    Slows the game down too...always keep your game in it's native resolution, because you cannot get a BETTER picture than the resolution it was programmed in....
    When you get a true 1080P game or movie...then switch it back.
    How to adjust the resolution of nokia n73?
    just bought n73. picture is clear if taken outdoors, but when indoors, the quality of the picture is poor. its either all green, or person's skin turned to orange. its not the same with my 6280. i thought its much better considering that its 3.2mp. anyone knows how to fix it? i've tried changing the settings but nothing happens.How to adjust the resolution of nokia n73?
    While taking a picture, select picture quality from the options and then you can change the resolution (quality) of the image from low-hi. Also, you might want to see if any of the image options such as 'negative' etc. are activated.
    My only guess is that you didn't set it back to the right resolution. If you have a widescreen monitor, you may have set it to a non-widescreen resolution, forcing it to stretch out the display.     Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They also appear smaller, so more items fit on the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items fit on the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images might have jagged edges.
    For example, 640 脳 480 is a lower screen resolution, and 1600 脳 1200 is a higher one. CRT monitors generally display a resolution of 800 脳 600 or 1024 脳 768. LCD monitors can better support the higher resolutions. Whether you can increase your screen resolution depends on the size and capability of your monitor and the type of video card you have.
    Text is larger and easier to read at low screen resolutions, but images are blocky and fewer items fit on the screen
    1.Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.
    Notes
    hen you change the screen resolution, it affects all users who log on to the computer.
    EVERYTHING on my monitor is huge, the colors are distorted with white speckle and many are distorted ,?
    Last night, for some unknown reason, when I turned on computer everything is huge. The colors are distorted. Some have white speckles (like my picture looks like a mosaic) or wrong muted colors or wrong contrasts (light on light where its difficult to read). Lots of dots that perhaps are normally so small there not noticeable.
    Ive run my virus detector but it wasnt fixed.     if you have reset your resolution to at least 800x600 and you're still having problems you should try to reinstall your video drivers.
    if you're running windows XP you can go start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager - display settings and see what video card you have installed.
    you can try to 'roll back' your driver to a previous version which might help, or if you know what kind of video card/computer you have. the best thing to do would be to download the latest driver for your computer.
    couple things to test. make sure the monitor cable is plugged firmly into the video card.
    update the driver and reset your video settings to 800x600 or 1024x768 and see if that helps.
    if you're still having problems - do you have access to another monitor? do you have the same problems with that one? does your monitor work properly on another computer?
    sounds like this is a driver issue, but you never know. by starting simple you can work through troubleshooting your problem and hopefully you can fix it without paying for support.
    if your computer is under warranty, i'd definitely call your support number and see if they can walk you through fixing this.
    good luck!EVERYTHING on my monitor is huge, the colors are distorted with white speckle and many are distorted ,?
    You should try checking your graphic card. It might have become lose. Or dust might have accumalated on it. Check the monitor's electrical connection. Sometimes the motherboard slots short circuit which might affect the graphic card, in that case just put the graphic card in another slot. It is certainly not virus.
    How to connect laptop to HDTV via VGA to Component Video cable?
    Using a VGA (Laptop) to component Video (HDTV) cable. When I do make the connection, I receive a garbled picture on the TV. The garble does change as I adjust the resolution via the display settings but still not a viewable image.How to connect laptop to HDTV via VGA to Component Video cable?
    Well it depends on the type of component attachment you have there are multiples. Without getting to deep in tech talk if you have component of Red Green Blue which only has 3 connectors VGA does not translate as it sends the horizontal and vertical info down two additional wires. Some Plasma monitors have this hook up some do not. It is generally bnc connections. The sync being off would cause a jumbled signal or no signal at all similar to your description. Possibly there is a better connection on the TV but without specifics of the model that is about as far as I go.How to connect laptop to HDTV via VGA to Component Video cable?
    Grandtec makes a converter for it.
    http://grandtec.com/hiwire.htmHow to connect laptop to HDTV via VGA to Component Video cable?
    You may have to change a setting in the display to pull in the horizontal and vertical sync (usually listed as %26quot;sync on green%26quot;). However, more than likely your display is not designed to pull a signal outputted from a computer.
    Unfortunately not uncommon ...
    Your other solution could be a scan converter. They input computer signals and output video. Can be expensive though - ~$200 or so.
    How can I change my DPI of a 5.5x8.5 (inch) image from 96 to 300?
    Follow my source link for instructions to do this in GIMP.
    Your image now is probably 528 x 816 pixels (5.5x8.5 at 96 DPI), your new image will have to be 1650x2550, which would equal 5.5x8.5 at 300 DPI.
    Changing the Resolution is merely making the picture have less pixtels (takes up less room because the file is smaller). To put it on the internet you can use a low size because the monitor will only display 96KB, anything bigger is lost to a viewer. There is no efficient way you can prevent the picture from being copied after you put it on the internet. The small size will prevent anyone from making a big print of it and many photographers show thumbnail samples with their name across the picture to prevent downloading a good copy. Put it online and it's free to anyone, it's like giving a book to the library and then worrying because someone might read it, silly!
    New flat screen monitor, new horrible resolution. Need help fixing it!?
    We just bought a Samsung flat screen monitor and every image looks HORRIBLE and distorted. Pictures and text look grainy and images that were square in shape now look rectangular. We have tried ALL the basic things, including changing the resolution, which just makes the images too small or too large while the crappy quality remains the same. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or has any idea how to fix it. I thought that the LCD screen would have better quality image than our old monitor, but apparently not! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!New flat screen monitor, new horrible resolution. Need help fixing it!?
    You might have to install the drivers for the LCD display so it would work. Your pc through the video card is still sending data trought the video out ports as if the old display were installed. The new device might need some drivers installed to enable windows to use it properly. There should be a cd that came with the new display.     If the original image is a bad picture then there is nothing a new monitor can do for you. However check the settings in the computer itself to make sure that the computer is set to the monitor's native resolution.New flat screen monitor, new horrible resolution. Need help fixing it!?
    the first thing i'm thinking about are
    1- your VGA card
    2- your monitor cable
    check them both , and if possible , connect the monitor to another computer , and see if the quality is the same , if it is , then ur VGA card is innocent , if it displays stuff much better , suspect your VGA card , also , it might be a production error or something , if none of the above helped , return it to the vendor and have it replaced.New flat screen monitor, new horrible resolution. Need help fixing it!?
    Return it for credit or a replacement.
    It shouldn't be grainy, etc. from the get go. If your previous monitor had a good %26quot;picture%26quot; then this one should also.
    It doesn't really matter if it's a CRT (picture tube) or a LCD (flatpanel) it should just plug in and be fine and then just a matter of adjusting the resolution to the size you like the best.
    I'd definitely return it.
    Wrong resolution monitor?
    i set my pc's monitor settings to (something) x 1200 by accident and my monitor is x 768 so i cant see any picture, so i cant change it back, if i restart my pc it just stays at the same resolution. does anyone know how to fix this?Wrong resolution monitor?
    while your pc is starting up, tap F8 constantly ( best just before windows loads ) you should get a list of modes to boot into windows, choose enable VGA mode, log into windows, then select the lower resolution.
    If you are tapping F8 and boot order comes up, your are tapping it too early, tap it like every second after your POST comes up ( the part where you get the option to go into setup or choose boot device.
    restart windows and go into normal mode to use your new resolutionWrong resolution monitor?
    Registry changes.
    The alternative could be to boot into safe mode and uninstall the graphics card driver, then reboot and let windows reinstall it, you should be able to see this happen because the basic windows vga driver should default to 800x600 or less.Wrong resolution monitor?
    Here is step by step guide to recovery:
    1. Reboot you PC. As soon as you see the compter lights comes on HOLD DOWN F8 key until you are given the option for SAFE MODE. While you pressing F8 key your pc may make some error bips but you don't need to worry about it.
    2. From the option, select SAFE MODE
    3. Once you are on the desktop, you can now go START %26gt;%26gt; CONTROL PANEL %26gt;%26gt; DISPLAY
    4. now you can set it to whatever you like.
    Help with Adventure Game Studio?
    I'm trying to create my first game using the adventure game studio program, but i have reached a point where i am supposed to input a picture to use as a background for my first room. I drew a background out using Microsoft Paint or whatever and i tried to upload it but the height/width etc are apparantly far too big. It says that the resolution i have chosen is too small to support that big a picture, but i dont know how to change the picture size. Can anyone help?Help with Adventure Game Studio?
    Open up microsoft picture manager, go to edit and type in a custom picture resolution.Help with Adventure Game Studio?
    I've not used MS Paint but try reloading the picture and select it. Often there are 'handles' (little blobs) at the corners and edges. Select the handle at the bottom right and drag diagonally to the left. That will make the picture smaller but retain the same proportions.
    Forgive me if this does not work! In that case, click on Help and try 'resize'.
    How can I Improve FS2004 (FS9) Frames with my Specs?
    Okay, here's the rundow:
    I've got Vista Home Premium
    Intel Core Duo 1.5 GHz Processor
    and 3 GB of RAM. I have all of the FlyTampa scenery you can get your hands on also. I've also got TrackIr, Adobe's AI Traffic Pack, and some payware planes. I have all of the Scenery settings to the lowest, Airplane settings to Medium-High, Weather to lowest, traffic to 90%, and Global Mass Texture to massive. Now before anything else, I have to have AI. I can't live without it. Second, I can't stand low textures and scenery. My frames are locked at 24. One second I am getting 23.9 or 23.8, then the next 5 minutes I'm getting 4 FPS. For example, I just did a 4-5 hour flight from Honolulu to San Francisco. On final, the frames dropped to about 2. I can't fly unless the game is running smooth. So I pause the game and go watch an episode of Mythbusters. Well, maybe not that long, but you get the picture. So I want to know how to run FS2004 with full settings and have it run smooth.
    P.S. Does it make a difference if you change the Screen Resolution to a lower setting? I have mine at the highest (I think 1280 X 800).How can I Improve FS2004 (FS9) Frames with my Specs?
    How do you change the screen size on a Sony Ericsson W580i?
    I replaced the LCD screen in my phone (carefully following instructions) but now the screen size or resolution is wrong. Everything from the main screen to the menu and all my pictures are way too big. In the menu all of the options are squashed together.
    How can I change this? And although I appreciate all help I should let you know I'm not good at these things so if you can, simplify it for me.
    go into setting ----then General ----then setup wizard --this will hopefully give you the defaults back again.
    However if its still a problem , get a software upgrade ,either download to your pc and transfer--or do it via your phones internet connection.
    How do I improve picture quality for PC plugged into a 26 inch LCD TV via VGA socket?
    I have a Vistron VIS026P 26%26quot; Widescreen LCD TV that I have plugged my Media Centre PC into via it's VGA socket. This is not an HD television, but it is reported to go up to resolutions of 1360x768.
    I am able to reach that resolution at 60hz (with the TV set to 16:9 ratio), but I am getting some picture distortion that results in text looking occasionally blurred and broken up horizontally. At 1280x768 the image is similar to the above, and also at 1280x720 (which bizarrely is what the TV manual says it can reach)
    However, at 1024x768 (with the TV set to 4:3 ratio) the image is perfect with clean and crisp text.
    Does anybody have any idea what settings I need to change to get the image/text quality as good at the highest resolution? My old 19%26quot; LCD monitor had an 'Auto' button that sets the screen to the the correct timing and horizontal/vertical size, but this TV does not.
    I've had the same problems when running my pc on my tv. The only thing I have been able to do is the go into the graphics card's software and adjust the screen manually, it takes time and then if you want to switch back to you monitor you have to reset the changes. Not to mention it never looks as good as on the monitor. Tv's just can't handle what a pc monitor can. Hope this helps.How do I improve picture quality for PC plugged into a 26 inch LCD TV via VGA socket?
    This is not really my field, but your answers seem good.
    All I can add, is to ensure good quality links and cables.
    A poor quality cable can pick up unwanted interference from any magnetic field, and this will reduce the quality of any signal passed through it.
    You seem a very knowledgeable person with regard to this question, but sometimes we miss the simple and obvious solutions to a problem.
    Hope this helps you in some way.How do I improve picture quality for PC plugged into a 26 inch LCD TV via VGA socket?
    For optimum quality, use the 1024x768 setting, at 60Hz. I know you use less pixels that way, but it's regarded as the best native resolution at present. You could try an optimization program to set it up properly too. Aslo bear in mind that most PCs output video signals at high res anyway, so the only other thing I'd suggest is getting a higher quality TV- I have a Sony Bravia 20%26quot; and it shows perfect quality at any resolution.
    I bought a Sony Bravia 46'' LCD and I don't know how to get the local channels?
    I have an RCA antenna with a coaxial cable and I keep getting the local channels with a very bad picture. The set is 1080p so do I have to change the resolution or something or is this it? Is this all I can do? The people who live next door have a good crystal clear local channel and they don't have DirecTV or any cable for that matter but they still get the local channel with amazing quality. So, I need help setting this HDTV up. Thank You!!!!!!!!I bought a Sony Bravia 46%26039;%26039; LCD and I don%26039;t know how to get the local channels?
    i have a 50'' sony grand wega, and u need to get an hd antenna, the hd channels will be like 5.2, 12.2 27.3 like that. like a radio, the high def channels are between the local channels. we got our antenna at radio shack, it was 50 bucks i think, and u can tell what its comming in as, if u look in top right corner of your display when it says what channel your on, it wiil say 720p or 1080i or 1080p . that how u know what ur getting. but u do need the anteena to get them.I bought a Sony Bravia 46%26039;%26039; LCD and I don%26039;t know how to get the local channels?
    maybe your cable cord is lose, try tightening it. try buying cables and splitter with gold tips.
    Ask your neighbors nicely if you can try your tv on their antenna cable. If it's a good picture in their house then your antenna system needs surgery, if not then your TV needs life support.I bought a Sony Bravia 46%26039;%26039; LCD and I don%26039;t know how to get the local channels?
    A decent outdoor antenna will solve your problem. Indoor antennas suck... plain and simple.
    If you live in the greater Sacramento CA area, email me. I can help.I bought a Sony Bravia 46%26039;%26039; LCD and I don%26039;t know how to get the local channels?
    That TV is likely HD -READY or HD compatible, so you need some way to deliver the HD signal to the TV, so you need to buy an HD outdoor antenna(it also will be good for digital) . Even if your TV had the built in HD tuner, you still have to feed it an HD signal, and in your case, it's an outdoor free-to-air HD antenna.I bought a Sony Bravia 46%26039;%26039; LCD and I don%26039;t know how to get the local channels?
    First question.... does your TV have an ATSC tuner? This tuner enables you to receive the digital over the air broadcasts from your local tv stations. If your set has an ATSC tuner then what you need is to do an AUTO SCAN for all channels and make sure you have it set to scan the digital channels also. If by chance your set does not have an ATSC tuner then you are out of luck.
    You may also want to visit antennaweb for more information about aiming your antenna.
  • How to zoom my home theater picture to full screen?
    my LG LCD TV LF 15 won't show full pictures from my dvd player? Have zoom on tv ok, but when playing movies, have black lines top and bottom. Shows only 4:3, 16:9 and what about video Resolution set on 1080p is that correct,
    tried many ways to full screen, but does not change.How to zoom my home theater picture to full screen?
    Widescreen motion pictures are actually wider that television widescreen. When the movie producer puts a movie on DVD, a decision has to be made whether to optimize to the 16:9 television shape, which requires chopping off the right and left edges of the picture, or providing the entire width of the original movie which requires putting black bars at the top and bottom. Older movies filmed with a lot of action on the sides, like %26quot;Ben Hur%26quot; usually make the DVD version with black bars so the action is not chopped off. Most modern movies are shot so as to be able to be seen on a 16:9 television without losing essential picture elements on the side. This is called %26quot;protecting%26quot; in the trade. A few directors still insist on superwide action, so even some newer movies require the black bar so you can see the entire picture.How to zoom my home theater picture to full screen?
    That's because your video's aspect ratio is different from your TV's. I think you need a software to change it to full screen.
    iorgsoft video converter can change the aspect ratio to 4:3, 16:9 or full screen. What you have to do is download the software and import the video and set the aspect ratio. The process can be done in seconds.
    Use the aspect key on your TV's remote.
    The picture on my TV got a little messed up all of a sudden, any help ?
    Okay, I have an old (Around 28 inch, have no idea how big the screen is exactly) cheap TV, it worked great for 9 years until now. I recently got a PS3 from around 5 months but didn't used it much until around 2 weeks ago when I started playing a lot.
    When I play on the PS3, watch a DVD or even watch normal channels on the TV, the picture seems a little bigger so it doesn't fit the screen correctly. I don't really know how to explain this as English is not my first language but it's almost like the resolution has changed to crappier (example when you change to a lower resolution on your computer) and I am not sure if you will understand this, but the picture got bigger and on the borders a little bit of the picture is not being shown for example if you increase the H-size on your computer screen some, the icons on the left will be split.
    It's not really a big problem, for example when I play on my PS3 and look at the clock on the screen up right, only one number is missing if you know what I mean but I am starting to worry that the problem is because of the PS3 or something even if it doesn't make sense because the picture is not only messed up when I use the PS3 but when I watch a DVD or TV too.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    I really apologize for my English.
    Thanks.The picture on my TV got a little messed up all of a sudden, any help ?
    Karl, I don't have an answer for your technical question, but I want to compliment you on your written English. It's better than a great many who know no other language. Don't ever apologize for it; you might be able to teach it.
    What is the default screen resolution for a laptop with a screen of 12.9 X 8.2 inches, 15.3 inches diagonal?
    Earlier I was running a program and it temporarily changed my screen resolution, but didn't change it back to how it was. Now all my picture on my computer and the layout on the desktop plus the wall paper looks distorted. How do I fix it?
    I try right clicking the desktop and clicking properties and then going to the settings tab on the %26quot;Display Properties%26quot;. It has the scroll bar where you can set your screen resolution. I've been playing with it and a lot of them look quite distorted, though a few of them look close to how the original resolution was, and one of them may be it without me even knowing.
    Standard laptop 15.4%26quot; screens are normally 1280x800, but higher resolution models are always available from the manufacturers, so I can't be positive. Try 1280x800, it's a good bet.
    There should be a row of controls at the bottom of the monitor screen, or they're behind some kind of panel that drops or flips out when you touch or push on it.     ou can try this but do it at your own risk:
    Change your video resolution to anything you want using regedit. It's recommended you back up your regestry befor tweaking it. Also, dont Go over your video cards min/max resolution.
    Just wondering, if its possible to convert it to a high resolution file, or do i just reply and say that i don't have a high res of that picture?
    please help!
    How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    Ok so I just bought a new HDTV. It has 1 HDMI port, 1 component, and 2 composit (video) ports not in use. I have a Wii, Xbox 360, and PS2 that need to hook into these ports. What cords should I buy for which system, that will give some of the best resolution. I dont want to have to pull cords out every time I change systems, so where they go is where they stay.How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    Does your TV support 1080p? If it only supports 1080i then I reccomend:
    PS3- HDMI
    X360 - Composite Cable (comes with the pro and elite models, justs et it to HDTV)
    Wii - Component
    The Wii does not output in HD, so it doesn't make a huge difference what kind of cable you use with it.
    If your TV supports 1080p, then I suggest HDMI on both the ps3 and the 360, although this would require an HDMI AV switch. This is because composite cables only support up to 1080i natively. This would free up the composite port, which you could use for the Wii if you wanted to bump it from 480i to 480p (although the difference is negligible).
    edit: just saw it was a ps2, not a ps3. In this case I would suggest:
    X360 - HDMI
    PS2 - Composite
    Wii - Component
    PS2 may not be in HD, but the games do look cleaner on a composite connection.How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    Well, since neither the Wii or PS2 really supports HD, plug your 360 into either the HDMI or component ports, and use your two composite ports for your Wii and PS2.How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    Wii- cant
    XBOX 360- go into settings and screen and chage it to your HD tv (so my HD tv is 1800i is my TV) so put the setting to 1800i also put your XBOX 360's HD Wires in read the manual to see how to install them
    PS2- Cant How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    if you have an elite, then buy either and HDMI or a component cable for that, as they are both high-def cables and the 360 is the only HD console you have. if its not an elite then get a component cable as the regular 360's are not HDMI compatible. the ps2 and wii will both have to go in to composite as neither of them are HD (as far as i know), so just a plain old scart cable for them
    hope this helped :)How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    on your 360, theres an hd button, use that.How can I set up the best picture quality for all of my consoles?
    From the best to worst:
    Use the HDMI port for the 360
    Component for Wii
    Composite for PS2, or just use the original A/V cable that came with it. Works. fine.
    I suggest getting a system selector to put the Wii and PS2 cables in?
    You can plug the HD cable for 360 straight in your TV.
  • How do I increase the resolution of powerpoint files saved as pictures?
    I am making a number of figures for publication in powerpoint and want to save the files as PNG at a resolution of 300 dpi, however the default is set for 150 dpi and I cannot figure out how to change the setting. I am using the 2003 version of powerpoint. I would really appreciate your help!!!How do I increase the resolution of powerpoint files saved as pictures?
    Hi,
    Only the Mac version of PowerPoint allows you to specify the resolution of presentations slides saved as pictures as well as individual slide objects saved as pictures.
    Open your presentation in PowerPoint 2004. On the PowerPoint menu choose Preferences. Click the Save tab. In the lower part of the preference pane you'll see %26quot;Advanced Resolution Settings.%26quot; These control the output for saving your slides as pictures, as well as saving individual objects as pictures (right click %26gt; save as picture).
    The control lets you specify dpi or pixels, but there are limitations based on the type of file you save as.
    Here are the maximums:
    TIFF 72dpi
    JPEG 72dpi
    PICT 1200dpi
    PNG 300dpi
    BMP 72dpi
    GIF 72dpi
    All windows versions of PowerPoint are locked at 72 dpi.
    You can also use Visual Basic Macros in Mac PowerPoint if you need to automate this task.
    What can I use when burning DVDs?
    Hello,
    I torrent all of my movies from isoHunt, and I have a few questions! I can put them on a disc and everything like that. I can watch them on the tv and everything of that sort so,
    1) When I burn them, with Windows DVD Maker, I've tried both 4:3 and 16:9 and I either get a wide screen or a square. So with that being said, I would like to know if anyone would be able to tell me a more suitable aspect ratio (for full screen picture) or how to change the resolution of a movie before I burn it.
    2) And when I burn the DVDs it takes a long time. So is there a faster way to burn dvds than Windows DVD Maker?
    I don't know if this would help but I have Sony Vegas Pro 8 and Nero 7. But I don't know how to use Nero. I've used Vegas to render the movies and that takes a long time too.
    Thank you in advance!What can I use when burning DVDs?
